I've been rocking pipe cleaner curls for the past 2 1/2 weeks. For the first 2 weeks I didn't separate them. THis week I've separated them and they're all full and fluffy (check out pics on my blog: http://imdippedinhoney.blogspot.com/). This is my first time trying curls and I love them!

but, i love curly styles and i have to agree that they do make good protective styles. So do braidouts.

I concur...I've been doing pipe cleaner curls for the past 2 weeks. The first time I did them was right after a retwist...this time I did them right after a wash. My locs and new growth curl right up and you can't tell that the hair hasn't been retwisted. I think this is the only way that I can go without retwisting so much.

I curled mine for the first time and just love it....

I love the curls on you! I prefer curls my self because they last the longest. They are tight for a couple of days, then they drop into fantastic waves! I think braid out are easier to have, but they last only a minute!

I wore a wig three times when I first became locked. I felt so self conscience. I gave the wig away and began to rock a lot of stylish hats! I think the best time to lock if you live in the north is November. By April your hair has a little more growth and you are on your way to the teens! LOL!

There's also another youtube personality who wears wigs a lot underneath her gorgeous locs (and she has been locing for 2 years or so)...some people just like wearing wigs underneath their locs to take a break from them, better than cutting them off or getting a perm lol.

I do braid outs w/ my locs and the waves/crimps hold for a good 2-3 weeks before I start thinking about redoing them. Curls are also great because the fuzzies aren't so obvious (I actually like my curls better w/ a lil fuzz!).

On a sidenote: I ran into a woman yesterday who had locs hidden under a wig!! She was actually feeling discouraged about the beginning stages, so hopefully my words encouraged her to be proud and stick with 'em.

i wanna try curls eventually, but more wavy instead of curly because for some reason i've always hated curls on me, lol. Chescaleigh and BronzeGoddess01 on youtube does a lot of styles that can be considered a protective style. I think even a pony tail makes a nice protective style too, it's just not as flashy or interesitng but it works for me hehe. Lookin' good girl!
