Over the course of my life, I have gone natural via "no perms" 3 times. Before I started locking, though, all of the coloring, pressing, & hot curling continued to give me hair troubles. That, amongst other things, led me to locking. And my hair has grown tremendously. I love my locks and look forward to increased versatility as they grow!LA Jeffersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06420519459431761765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2863545505587940137.post-44158928178535923192009-11-24T14:37:54.273-05:002009-11-24T14:37:54.273-05:00this post is so true! when i had a perm, my hair n...this post is so true! when i had a perm, my hair never grew beyond a bob (somewhere between my chin and shoulders). I have some breakage, but even when my hair seemed in good condition, it just didn't grow! I've now had natural hair for 9 years, locs for 8, and my hair is down to the bottom of my back. never wouldve grown so much with chemicals.dcfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05728034316146973230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2863545505587940137.post-47750035307720238192009-11-24T12:29:58.787-05:002009-11-24T12:29:58.787-05:00I totally agree! The key to growth is going natural and being kind to your hair!

@Mavis: Heat and chemicals cause so much irreversible damage which results in breakage, so even if your hair is growing there is little length retention. I didn't do an official big chop while going natural--I transitioned for what felt like forever (1.5 years) and then cut off my relaxed ends, leaving a head full of healthy, natural hair. It takes alot of patience and knowledge to transition though. Good luck :)ANGELINAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15213272155288423325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2863545505587940137.post-62533408583954006302009-11-23T09:29:23.515-05:002009-11-23T09:29:23.515-05:00Preach Candace! But I think it's better to. It gives you the chance to learn about your hair as it grows. However, a lot of people don't feel comfortable with short natural hair. And that's fine. You have to do what works for you. But I'm telling you....cutting it off is soooo liberating!Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11902839629217130433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2863545505587940137.post-50567986125504114362009-11-22T20:24:08.442-05:002009-11-22T20:24:08.442-05:00Do you have to totally cut off all your hair and s...Do you have to totally cut off all your hair and start over to be consider natural?
