Events, inspirations, loc'd guys, oh my...

I've been gone for  a minute y'all but I am slowly coming back. Sometimes I don't know what to blog about when it comes to natural hair. I don't have this problem with Clumps. There is always a a lip gloss, mascara , trend or brand that I can talk about. But natural hair? A little more difficult. That and sometimes I just don't know what to say that hasn't already been said.

But I've got some cool ideas, inspirations and products to blog about now. And events! There are so many coming up in the Central Florida area and I am excited to be a part of it all. Of course I'll be sure to blog each and every event coming up. Thanks a ton to the fabulous ladies already emailing me asking me to keep them in the know.

In the meantime...when I went pay my T-Mobile, check out what greeted me when I logged on.

Now that's hot. I'll be the first to admit that T-Mobile's service can be ulta-sketchy but this ad just gave me life. Not one but TWO loc'd brown people?

My heart is about to burst into gumdrops.

Loc'd love

Now I'm a single lady (no, I'm not throwing my hands up, lol) and I should really keep my options open. You know...you can't just want ONE type of man. Right? And I'm trying. However, I can't help but desire a kind of love like this...

OMG!!!!!!!!! Look how long his locs are. And look how beautiful hers are. *tilts head to the side and sighs* I don't know what it is, but very rarely do I see loc'd men with loc'd women. And so with my fascination of locs, when I see this, I'm like...*mouth open* Such beauty.

Hey loc'd ladies...do you find yourself more attracted to men with locs or is your attraction to them the same as with other men? As for me...my head usually doesn't turn UNLESS he has locs.

I know, I know. It's so sad. I can't help it! And I was like this before I had my own locs. Sheesh!

I got this photo from Naturally Beautiful Hair blog. Do y'all have her on your RSS reader? She posts the best natural hair photos around. Loves it!

ETA: Check out Ms. Honey Dip and her hubby's locs here. Beautiful!!

Men with Locs....that also flow

When I first went natural, I was a serious "nappy head". I tapped in my 'inner soul-sista'. I rocked Black power t-shirts and joined the Black Student Union. While in college, I even took a class called Black Radical Thought. Seriously the BEST class in my entire undergraduate career.

But anyway....I took on the role of the "stereotypical nappy head". I eventually matured and realized that I was doing a lot of those things just to appear more "Black". Some of y'all ain't gon understand that but I'll do into detail about that one day. It's a complicated subject really. LOL!

But one thing that stuck with me in my transformation was the love I developed for poetry. I've been a poet since I was a kid. I was even in poetry contests. But it really hit me again in college. I don't write it much anymore but I have a great appreciation for avid poet flow-ers.

Especially the ones that have locs.

*swoon*

I mean.....wow. And then there's Dana Gilmore who is AMAZIIIIING!!!

Woooooow.

But yeah, poetry is dope.

Men with Locs....the video

My girlfriends are always picking on me because they say that I only like men that have locs.

That's not true.

I just have a thing for men who have them. I mean, the following video was like porn to me. I find nothing more attractive than a man with gorgeous locs. 2 points if he smells good. And 3 points if he has white teeth and bangin' smile.

....and 10 points if he's single and has no kids. Which these days seems to be a rarity. LOL!!!!

Okay, I am soooo kidding.

Kinda.

Check out the vid.

1:17 reminds me of an old flame. I ain't playin'...

Men and locs, Part I

....what can I say? I love them. With a passion.

Very rarely am I attracted to men with fades or short cuts. I may give them a glance but my mouth pretty much drops when I see a man with gorgeously maintained locs. I can't explain it.

Lately I've been having a ton of conversations about "women with locs" to men with locs. Two of my great male friends rock gorgeous locs on their crowns. I'll go into detail about those convos. But first a quick photo shoot.

My boys always allow me the honor to intertwine my fingers in their locs. I closely examine each one.

See...locs are more than just "hair". They tell a story. Check out Mr. Crass'.

Mr. Crass has some thiiiiick hair. He's been growing his locs for 6 years and I've known him only 2 of those 6.

They are perfect. I mean...I don't know how else to describe them.

*moment of silence* If I point to any area on his locs, he can tell me what was going on at that length. "The death of his Aunt" "The birth of his daughter". It's amazing....unfortunately he's ready to cut 'em off. For him they represent too much pain. Too many downfalls. He's ready for a change in his life....and the locs have to go.

I hope that I have mostly positive events/joys in my life as I grow my locs. I can't imagine cutting them off after 6 years. I remember scowling him after hearing this but now I get it.

I'm sure people who grow their hair pretty long can relate.

That song "I am not my hair" by India Arie ain't true for all of us.

Peace and loc've.

*kisses Mr. Crass*
